Newport Lamp & Shade Company is a luxury lighting showroom and e-commerce business serving design-minded consumers and interior design professionals nationwide. We are seeking a dependable, energetic, hands-on team member to join our in-person operations team in Newport, Rhode Island.
Position Overview
The Operations Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the smooth daily functioning of Newport Lamp & Shade Company’s operations. This part-time position is ideal for someone who enjoys staying active, working with their hands, and helping keep a small business running smoothly behind the scenes. Responsibilities include processing and fulfilling online orders, shipping orders directly from the showroom, receiving deliveries, organizing and shipping out material goods to workrooms, assisting with inventory as needed, and supporting the team with showroom operations.
Key Responsibilities
Process and pack online orders accurately and efficiently for shipment from the showroom.
Receive incoming deliveries, unpack merchandise, and ensure products are organized and accounted for.
Assist with inventory counts, stock organization, labeling, and merchandising support.
Maintain organized documentation for orders, shipments, and vendor communications.
Support general showroom and back-of-house operations as needed.
Work closely with the team to keep daily operations running smoothly and efficiently.
Qualifications
Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working independently as well as with a small team.
Energetic and ready for a role that involves movement throughout the day.
Enjoys hands-on work and is comfortable lifting and moving boxes and merchandise.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.
Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Previous experience in retail, shipping, fulfillment, inventory, warehouse support, or operations is helpful but not required.
Interest in interior design, home furnishings, or visual merchandising is a plus.
Schedule
Part-time, in-person position.
3 days per week*
Hours are 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
*Days of the week are flexible, opportunity for growth within the company and/or expanded hours
Compensation
Starting pay: $25.00 per hour

Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
